Rose Marie (Pimentel) DeMello, 99, of West Kingston, passed away on Monday, March 25, 2024 at the South Kingstown Nursing and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by her children.

Born in Pawtucket, RI, she was the daughter of the late Antonio Pimentel and Mary (Sousa) Pimentel and the wife of the late William J. DeMello Jr.

Rose was a stay-at-home mom to her seven devoted children. At an early age, she worked in the meat-packing industry in Rhode Island and at Lucky Star grocery store in Oakland, California. Later, as her children were grown, she worked as a bookkeeper and hostess. She was an avid baker, well known for her Christmas cookies, and created professional level wedding cakes. She also enjoyed gardening, playing cards and singing.

She is survived by her children, William J. DeMello III of Warwick, RI, Bernice M. DeMello (late Laurence Byrne) of Wilmington, NC, Barbara L. Gaulien of Warwick, RI, Elizabeth C. Mendoza (Rogelio) of San Antonio, TX, Joseph A. DeMello of Cranston, RI, Bonnie M. DeMello (Michael Sullivan) of Wilmington, NC, Robin L. Hollo (George) of Lewisville, TX, her grandchildren, Andrea Gaulien, Nicholas Mendoza (Marisa Currie), Dominic Mendoza, Zachary Mendoza, her great granddaughter, Annabelle Mendoza and by her many nephews and nieces.

She was the sister of the late Elsie Cimini, Constance Grande, Manual Pimentel, Anthony Pimentel, Agnes Soares, Mary Malenfont, Ernest Pimentel and Dorothy Pimentel.

Her Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2024 at 9:00AM at THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Warwick, RI. Interment will follow at the St. Francis Cemetery in Pawtucket, RI.

Visitation will be held at the Funeral Home on Friday, March 29, 2024 from 4:00PM-7:00PM.
