Deborah E. Thompson, 86, of Narragansett, died Sunday, December 3, 2017 at West View Nursing Home in West Warwick. She was the devoted wife of the late John M. Thompson.

Born in Pawtucket, she was a daughter of the late David J. and Elizabeth (Mulvey) St.Germain.

Deborah was an educator in the Providence School System and a co-founder of Dorcus Place. She was a graduate of St. Xavier High School in Providence and earned a Masters of English from Rhode Island College and a Masters of Theology from Fordham University.

Deborah was a member of the Sisters of Mercy for twenty-five years and was a co-director of the Gilbert Stuart Museum for eleven years and also served as a docent at the museum.

Deborah is survived by her beloved children: Susan, Patricia, Deborah, David, Michael, Elizabeth, Hannah and the late Walter. She is also survived by fourteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was the beloved sister of the late David St.Germain and Patricia Hines.

Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at 10 AM in Christ the King Parish, 180 Old North Road, Kingston. Visiting hours on Thursday from 9 AM - 10 AM in the church. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory to: The Sisters of Mercy, 15 Highland View Road, Cumberland, RI 02864 will be appreciated. Funeral arrangements entrusted to THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Warwick.
