Norma M. (Pelkey) Ryan, 86, of North Kingstown, died peacefully on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Kent Regency. She was the loving wife of Joseph R. Ryan. Born in South Kingstown, she was a daughter of the late Arthur N. Pelkey & Grace N. (Oatley) Pelkey.

Mrs. Ryan was a homemaker and worked as a telephone operator in Wickford. She was a communicant of St. Bernard Church, member of the Wickford Yacht Club and the Plumb Beach Garden Club.

In addition to her husband, she leaves her three loving children: Jeffery Ryan (Amanda) of North Kingstown, Joseph E. Ryan (William) of Pembroke, MA, & Julie A. Kauffman of East Greenwich. Cherished grandmother of Allison Seelig (Chad) of Jamestown, Daniel Ryan of North Kingstown, Elizabeth Ryan of Newport, Joseph B. Ryan of North Kingstown, & great-grandmother of Oliver Seelig of Jamestown. She was the sister of Mary Lucas of Cape Cod, Janice Kulinski of CT, Judy Rogers of SC, & Barbara Daley of PA.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at 10:00 am in St. Bernard Church, 275 Tower Hill Road, North Kingstown. Burial in Elm Grove Cemetery will be private. Calling hours are respectfully omitted.

In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory to the North Kingstown Food Pantry, 445 School Street, North Kingstown, RI 02852 or to Hospice VNA of Care New England, 51 Health Lane, Warwick, RI 02886 will be appreciated.
