Raymond L. Brien, 93, of West Warwick died peacefully on Sunday, October 8, 2017 at the RI Veterans Home in Bristol. He was the beloved husband of the late Theresa Ann (Cartier) Brien, and father of the late Raymond C. Brien.

Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Horace and Matilda (Chagnon) Brien.

Raymond was employed for over twenty years as a Sacristan at Christ the King Church in West Warwick until retiring in May of 2015. He was a member of the choir at both St. Charles Church and Christ the King Church. Years ago, Raymond was active in CYO Activities while his children were in their youth.

During W.W.II, Raymond honorably served in the U.S. Navy.

Raymond was a member of the Teamsters Union. He was a self-employed Television Repairman and later was a driver for Costello Brothers, Inc. and St. Johnsbury Trucking Company and also was a self-employed Advertising Specialist.

Raymond built doll houses which were given as gifts to charity and was an avid hockey fan, fantasy football player and enjoyed playing cards with his family.

He is survived by his loving children: Anne J. Brien of West Greenwich, Elaine T. Andrade (Tony) of Riverside, Normand E. Brien (Judith) of Manchester, NH, Robert E. Brien (Deb Dobson) of Ledyard, CT, Michele E. Workman of Coventry, Theresa Y. Sweet (Peter) of West Greenwich and Paul R. Brien (Diane) of Ladera Ranch, CA; a daughter-in-law: Svetlana Brien of Norwalk, CT; two siblings: Norman Brien (Yvonne) of Johnston and Gloria Lennon (Eugene) of Cranston; he was the grandfather of Robert O. Wheeler, Peter A. Sweet, Craig A. Brien, Robert J. Brien, Candice M. Sweet, Jennifer L. Brien, Theresa Workman, Nathan Brien, Kristopher Brien, and Daniel Brien; he was the great-grandfather of nine great-grandchildren. Raymond is also survived by his loving companion Anna Conca.

He was the brother of the late Doris DiBaldo, Jeanne Gervais, Theresa Hennessey, Eva Landry, Rita Courtnoyer and Blanche Birch.

His funeral will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 8:30 AM from THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Warwick followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in Christ the King Church, 124 Legris Avenue, West Warwick. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Friday, October 13, 2017 from 4 PM - 8 PM. Burial with military honors will take place in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
