Michael L. Del Sesto, 62, of Warwick died Friday, September 29, 2017 at Kent Regency in Warwick after a long illness. He was the longtime companion of Carol Wheelock.

Born in Providence, he was the beloved son of Mary J. (Vuocolo) Del Sesto, with whom he lived, and the late Daniel G. Del Sesto, Sr.

Michael was a licensed Funeral Director and a Social Worker until retiring due to illness in 1992. He was a graduate of New England Institute of Embalming and Sanitary Science in Boston, now Mt. Ida College, and Rhode Island College. He was an active advocate for the handicapped and served on the Warwick and the State of Rhode Island Handicapped Commission. He was also a member of the Just Friends Program and a Program Guest Speaker. Michael enjoyed reading and was an avid rock and fossil collector.

In addition to his beloved mother and companion, Michael is survived by two loving daughters: Sarah K. DelSesto and Lauren M. Del Sesto, both of Warwick; a brother: Daniel G. Del Sesto, Jr. of Warwick; two cherished grandchildren: Caleb and Parker; and a beloved niece: Brittany Del Sesto.

His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at 10 AM in St. Benedict Church, 135 Beach Avenue, Warwick. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.

In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory may be made to: The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Southern New England Branch, 2350 Post Road, #201, Warwick, RI 02886.
