Edward J. Hebert, 75, of East Providence died Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at Miriam Hospital.  He was the beloved husband of 50 years to Ruby D. (Iannoli) Hebert.

Born in Dighton, Edward was a son of the late Adolphus and Anna (Cook) Hebert.  

Devoted to a lifelong career in banking, Edward retired as a Regional Manager and Vice President of Shawmut Bank.  Earlier he was employed as a Loan Officer and a Regional Vice-President for Bristol County Trust and Columbus National Bank.  

Edward was the Captain of Cadets at Taunton High School where he graduated in the Class of 1959.  He was also a graduate of The University of MA at Dartmouth and the Williams College School of Banking, Class of 1970 and received a Graduate Certificate from Dun & Bradstreet in 1980.  Edward was a 50 year communicant of St. Margaret Church in Rumford.  

Edward was also a member of the Taunton Lodge of Elks # 150, the Taunton Lions Club and the Kiwanis Club.

In addition to his beloved wife, Edward is survived by two sisters-in-law: Marie M. Coons (Benton S.) of Prior Lake, MN and Annette L. Colombo (Mark L.) of Evans, GA.  He was also the uncle of: Alexander M. Colombo, Vincent C. Colombo, Benton M. Coons and Kenneth J. Coons and grand-uncle of Kevin Coons & Mason Coons.

His funeral will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at 8 AM from THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Ave., Warwick followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM in St. Margaret Church, 1098 Pawtucket Ave., Rumford.  Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Friday from 3 PM - 6 PM.  Burial will take place in St. Francis Cemetery, Taunton.

In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory may be made to a charity of one's choice.
