Norman J. Robert, Cranston Fire Department, Retired, 90, of Coventry, formerly of Cranston, died Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at home.  He was the beloved husband of Jeanie C. (Barney) Robert and the late Mary I. (Stubbs) Robert.

Born in Providence, Norman was a son of the late Ernest J. and Berly C. (Gabrielsen) Robert.  
Norman was employed as a Private and an Emergency Medical Technician at the Cranston Fire Department until retiring and was also a truck driver and member of Local 251 Teamsters, retiring in 1982.  

During W.W.II, Norman honorably served in the U.S. Navy.  For many years he was a member of the Pawtuxet Baptist Church and currently was a member of the Phenix Baptist Church in West Warwick.

In addition to his beloved wife, Norman is survived by his loving children:  Gary N. Robert of West Warwick, Charlene M. Hanson of Coventry, Ernest J. Robert of South Carolina, William F. Robert of New Hampshire and Edward J. Robert of Warwick; twelve cherished grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.  

He was the loving father of the late Sandra Irene Robert and brother of the late Alan Robert and Harriet Thorpe.  

His funeral will be held on Friday, September 22, 2017 at 1 PM in THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Warwick.  Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Thursday, September 21, 2017 from 5 PM - 8 PM.  Burial with military honors will take place in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston.
