Barbara E. (Duffy) Holmander, 86, of Warwick died Saturday, July 15, 2017 at Brookdale South Bay in South Kingstown. She was the beloved wife of the late Richard L. Holmander. Born in West Warwick, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine (Kelley) Duffy.

Barbara was employed for thirty-eight years as a telephone operator for the former New England Telephone Company until retiring. She was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.

Barbara is survived by her loving children: Kelley M. Holmander and Keith R. Holmander and his wife Kathleen A. McCormick, all of West Kingston; 3 grandchildren: Daniel M. McCormick, Eric R. and Sean T. Holmander; and a great-grandson: Markus X. McCormick.

She was the sister of the late David, Richard and John Duffy.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 from 5 PM - 7 PM in THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Ave., Warwick. Her funeral and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory may be made to: Kindred Hospice, 2374 Post Road, #206, Warwick, RI 02886.
