Joann L. Buerman, 80, of Ashway, formerly of Warwick, a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, died Sunday, June 18, 2017 at Westerly Hospital. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Joseph F. and Violet (Hall) Willard.
Joann was employed as a Civil Service Employee for the U.S. Government. She was a longtime communicant of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in Warwick and was active in civic and community affairs in Warwick for many years.
Joann is survived by her beloved children: John Buerman (Jane) of Warwick, Michael Buerman (Jan) of Florida, Andrew Buerman (Lori) of Charlestown, Fred Buerman (Rosemarie) of Warwick and Susan J. Buerman of Ashway; four loving grandchildren and two cherished great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Mary Frances Riley.
Her funeral will be held on Friday, June 23, 2017 at 9 AM from THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Warwick followed by a Requiem Eucharist at 10 AM in St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, 3257 Post Road, Warwick. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, June 22, 2017 from 5 PM - 8 PM in the funeral home. Burial will be held at a later date in Pawtuxet Memorial Park.
