Walter S. Taylor, Jr., 87, of North Kingstown, died peacefully on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at Rhode Island Hospital. He was the loving husband of Dorothy E. "Dot" (Tafe) Taylor. Born in East Greenwich, he was a son of the late Walter S. Taylor, Sr. & Mary A. (Nicholas) Taylor.

Walt worked as a surveyor for the State of RI for many years until his retirement and operated "Never Enough Thyme Farm" along with his wife, Dot. He was the Past Master of Washington Lodge #5 F. & A.M. (presently Mount Vernon Lodge #4) of North Kingstown, member of Harmony Lodge, the Oddfellows of East Greenwich, a 4-H All Stars, and a 4-H Leader.

He was the past president of the RI Dahlia Society, member of the RI State Grange, Slocum Grange, & Pomona Grange. Walt coached DeMolay Baseball, volunteered for Meals on Wheels, was a member of the Washington County Fair Committee, and a member of the South County Rod & Gun Club.

Walter served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1954 during the Korean War and remained in the reserves for 10 years. He continued to support the veteran community as a member of the American Legion and was an active member and Adjutant of Post 12, North Kingstown.

In addition to his wife, he leaves his loving daughters: Linda A. Redmond & her husband David of South Kingstown, Donna J. Gould & her husband Norman of Exeter, and Nancy E. Aughinbaugh and her husband Karl of Exeter. Cherished grandfather of Christopher Redmond, David Redmond, Jr., Christopher Gould, Daniel Gould, Jeremy Taylor, Andrew Aughinbaugh, Ryan Aughinbagh & 15 great-grandchildren. He was the brother of Gordon D. Taylor & his wife Esther of North Kingstown.

His Committal Service with Full Military Honors will be held Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at 1:00 pm at the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 301 South County Trail, Exeter. Relatives & friends are invited and asked to meet at the Administration Building at 12:45 pm prior.

Relatives & friends are invited & may call on Monday from 5-7 pm in THE CRANSTON-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME of WICKFORD, 140 West Main Street, Wickford Village, North Kingstown. Kindly omit flowers.
