Ruth M. (Townley-Seaberg) Sleicher, 87, of South Kingstown, died peacefully on May 9, 2017.  Born in Providence, June 2, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Robert Townley & Anna (Peterson) Townley. 

Ruth lived in the Norwood section of Warwick during her early life and was a graduate of Aldrich High School in 1946.  She then went on to R.I. State College (now U.R.I.), graduating in 1940.  Upon graduation, she married Robert Seaberg and worked with him at the former Auburn Brass Foundry which they owned.  Upon Robert's death, she married Harry Sleicher and worked with him at the former Seaboard Foundry. 

Ruth was active in the Girl Scouts of America for over 55 years where she served on the Board of Directors and served on the investment committee where she was treasurer.  She was awarded the Curved Bar Award which was the highest award given at that time. 

She was also Grand Representative of the Order of the Eastern Star and was awarded the Grand Cross of Color and Esteemed Grand Praetor from the International Order of Rainbow Girls. 

Ruth Enjoyed sailing from the East Greenwich and Wickford Yacht Clubs.  She also enjoyed traveling and camping in the Adirondack Mountains. 

Ruth is survived by her husband Harry and her three children: Bradford Seaberg of Nevada City, CA, Robin Seaberg of San Diego, CA, and Wendy Bier of Ashland, MA. 

Her Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at 11:00 am in The First Baptist Church in Wickford, 44 Main St., Wickford.  Burial in Oaklawn Cemetery will be private.  Calling Hours are respectfully omitted.  In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory to The First Baptist Church in Wickford will be appreciated. 

Arrangements have been entrusted to THE CRANSTON-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME of WICKFORD.
