Margaret (Gordon) McElhaney, 91, formerly of North Kingstown, died peacefully on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at South Kingstown Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of the late Waldo S. McElhaney. Born in Kearney, Nebraska, she was a daughter of the late Paul T. Gordon & Marguerite (Wallace) Gordon.

Mrs. McElhaney worked for the North Kingstown School Department and at the former Ladd School in Exeter for many years as an arts & crafts instructor. She served as secretary of the North Kingstown Senior High School Class of 1943 Alumni. She loved cooking, baking, reading, and spending time with her grandchildren & great-grandchildren.

She leaves her loving children: Gordon S. McElhaney and his wife Joyce of Richmond and Paula M. Anthony and her husband Richard of Coventry. She was the grandmother of Jocelyn D. Tobia and her husband James S. Bogacki of Long Beach, NY, Bridget M. McElhaney of Jamestown, William G. McElhaney & his wife Catherine of Bronx, NY, and great-grandmother of Ellis R. Bogacki, Tucker W. Bogacki, Vaughn C. Bogacki all of Long Beach, NY, & Calix T. McElhaney of Bronx, NY . She was the sister of the late Eleanor Jean (Gordon) Harris.

Relatives & friends are invited and may call on Monday, May 15, 2017 from 4-7 pm in THE CRANSTON-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME of WICKFORD, 140 W. Main Street, North Kingstown. Burial will be private.
