Charles "Chuck" Rochon, 87, of Cranston, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 5, 2017 at home. He was the son of the late Charles L. Rochon, Sr. and Madeline (Angilly) Rochon.

He leaves behind his beloved wife Murielle of sixty years; son Charles Rochon III and daughter Diane Rochon; and two grandchildren, Tiara and Blake Rochon. He was the father of the late Laura Jean Rochon. Charles was the eldest brother of Leonard and Kenneth Rochon and the late Elmer "Al" Rochon.  He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Charles was a U.S. Navy Veteran who honorably served in the Korean War and was employed by Narragansett Electric for forty-three years until he retired as a foreman in 1990.

He was an active member of the Steamship Historical Society of America for over fifty years and held many responsibilities in both the National and the Southern New England Chapters.

Charles was an artist and craftsman in his own right. His love of boating and steamship history inspired him to build historically correct models of vessels which ran on the Fall River, Providence and New York Steamship Line. Many professional organizations frequently requested the honor of displaying his creations.

He was a humble man who always loved being surrounded by his family and friends, enjoyed big band music and his boat "Eolus".

Visiting hours will be held in THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Warwick RI, Thursday, May 11 from 4 to 7 pm. His funeral service will be held at the funeral home Friday, May 12, 2017 at 10 AM followed by burial with full Military Honors in Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery, North Kingstown, RI.

In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory may be made to: VNA Care of New England Hospice, 51 Health Lane, Warwick, RI 02886.
