Mary Joan Farrell, 87, of Warwick died Tuesday, April 4, 2017.  She was the beloved wife of the late John J. Farrell, Jr.  Born in Leominster, MA she was a daughter of the late Richard D. and Margaret (Gaffney) Doherty.

Mary graduated from Bridgewater State Teachers College and received her Master's Degree at the University of Rhode Island.

She was employed as an educator in the Warwick School System for thirty-six years, retiring in 1990.  She was also a communicant of St. Clement Church in Warwick.

Mary is survived by her devoted children: Eileen M. Farrell of Denver, CO, John J. Farrell, III, P.F.D. of West Warwick, Martin F. Farrell of Smithfield and Elizabeth A. Farrell Gallagher of North Scituate; her grandchildren: Patrick O. Farrell and Jaren Smith, Sierra and Justin Rambone, and Max Gallagher and her great-grandchildren: Ewan Farrell, Justin Rambone, Jr. and Bailey Rambone.

She was the sister of the late Robert and Richard Doherty.

Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 10, 2017 at 10 AM in St. Clement Church, 111 Long Street, Warwick.  Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, April 9, 2017 from 4 PM - 7 PM in THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Warwick.  Burial will take place in St. Joseph Cemetery, Windham, CT 

In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory  to: Hope Hospice & Pallative Care, 1085 North Main St., Providence, RI 02904 are appreciated.
