Lawrence W. Jamison, Jr., 74, of Wickford, RI, died peacefully Friday, March 17, 2017.  He was the loving husband of Marianne R. (Gabrick) Jamison. Born in Abington, PA, he was a son of the late Lawrence W. Jamison, Sr. & Margaret M. E. (Tague) Jamison. In early years, "Lon" attended Cardinal Dougherty High School, where he captained the cross-country team, and St. Joseph's College. He rowed for the Vespers Boat Club of Philadelphia, and all his life had an abiding love for the New Jersey seashore.

He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was a member of the American Legion.

Lon had a long and fulfilling career in the construction industry, beginning with McCloskey and Company, Builders, of PA and spanning many happy years as Senior Executive Vice President at Marshall Contractors, Inc. of RI.  He was a trusted and valued mentor to many in his field, and was a member of the American Arbitration Association.

Lon was a dedicated family man and an enthusiastic reader, with a deep fondness for poetry. He was a noted collector of toy soldiers, eighteenth century Rhode Island furniture, and Anglo-Irish antique glass. Lon gave widely and quietly to many various causes, with an especial commitment to veterans charities and agencies dedicated to the recovery of missing persons.

In addition to his wife, he leaves his loving children: Lawrence W. Jamison, III of Portsmouth; Carolyn T. Jamison of Tiverton, Christopher P. Jamison & his fiancée Kerry McCoy of Jamestown, and Patrick W. Jamison of Wickford.  Cherished grandfather of Lillian C. Jamison & Luke A. Jamison.  He was the dear brother of Charles Jamison of Carlsbad, California; Jack Jamison of Sea Isle, NJ; Frank Jamison of Warwick, PA; James Jamison of Oreland, PA; Michael Jamison of Glenside, PA; Mary Katherine Sullivan of Huntingdon Valley, PA; Patricia McNamara of Abington, PA; and the missing William Jamison & late Jerome Jamison. He was a loved relation to many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins, and an irreplaceable friend to many. He will be greatly missed.

His Funeral Mass and Burial in the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery will be private.  Calling hours are respectfully omitted.  In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory to Missing Veterans at http://www.missingveterans.com or St. Kateri Tekakwitha Church, 84 Exeter Rd. Exeter, RI 02822 will be appreciated.

Arrangements have been entrusted to THE CRANSTON-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME of WICKFORD.
