Dorothy R. (Pinder) Benson, 84, of North Kingstown, died peacefully at Philip Hulitar Hospice Center on Saturday, March 4, 2017. She was the wife of the late Warren E. Benson.  Born in Nassau, Bahamas, she was a daughter of the late Stanley Pinder & Eliza (Wells) Pinder. 

Mrs. Benson worked as Microbiologist for the State of Rhode Island until her retirement.  She was a graduate of Barrington College, Liberty University, and the University of RI where she received her masters degree in microbiology.  She was a member of Beacon Church of Exeter, the North Kingstown Senior Center, and the Association of Clinical Pathologists. 

She leaves her nephew, Jack Spink of Exeter and many close friends.  

Her Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at 10:00 am in Beacon Free Will Baptist Church, 100 Exeter Road, Exeter.  Burial will follow in Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery, North Kingstown.  Calling Hours are respectfully omitted.  In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory to Beacon Church will be appreciated.

Arrangements have been entrusted to THE CRANSTON-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME of WICKFORD.
