Norma B. (Boemler) Barker, 87, of Warwick passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at Kent Hospital.  She was the beloved wife of William R. Barker. They were married for 67 years.  Born in Indianapolis, Indiana, she was a daughter of the late Walter P. and Minnie I. (Bailey) Boemler.
   
Mrs. Barker was a merchandiser for American Greetings, Inc. for 19 years, served as a sewing teacher for "Stretch & Sew" and Newport Fabrics and crafted many wedding and party cakes for 20 years. She was a member of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church and its Vestry. Mrs. Barker enjoyed square dancing since 1963 and was a member of Friendly Mixers, serving as group president. For several years she was active in the Girl Scout Movement. 
   
She was the loving mother of Katherine L. Richardson and her husband George of Exeter, RI and Karen A. Thornton and her husband Daniel of Coventry, RI. Devoted grandmother of Andrew W. Richardson and his wife Amber, Kyle N. Thornton and his wife Arica, Brett M. Thornton and his wife Abby and Erin M. Hus and her husband Clayton. Cherished great-grandmother of Riley M. Thornton, Cora B. Hus and Jillian K. Richardson. She was the sister of the late George and Robert Boemler and is also survived by several nieces and nephews. 

A Requiem Eucharist will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at 10:00 am in St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, 3257 Post Road, Warwick.  Burial will follow in R.I. Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Monday from 4:00-8:00 pm in THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Warwick (Exit 12A on I-95). 
   
In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory to St. Barnabas Episcopal Church would be appreciated.
