Edna Louise "Liz" Carson (Benoit), age 87, passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2017.  She was the wife of the late John Henderson Carson.  Born in White Plains, NY, the only child of the late Dona Joseph and Alice Lydia (Davis) Benoit. She previously resided in Rockledge, Florida from retirement, until her recent return to RI.

A 1947 graduate of The Wheeler School in Providence, she went on to attend classes at the University of Vermont.

Liz was a voracious reader, up until the last weeks of her life. She was a lover of the arts, from impressionism to abstract, and a fan of the great architects, from Frank Lloyd Wright to Antoni Gaudi. These were passions that she proudly passed on to her sons.

She is survived by those two sons, Jon D. Carson and his wife Maria R. Fontes of Lincoln, RI and Mark B. and his wife Kimberly R. Carson of Saunderstown, RI and four grandchildren, Derek Lacombe, Ian Lacombe, Marcus Carson and Gabriela Carson.

Relatives & friends are invited and may call on Thursday, February 2, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm with a service to follow in THE CRANSTON-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME of WICKFORD, 140 West Main Street, Wickford Village, North Kingstown.  Burial in Elm Grove Cemetery will be private.
