Raymond J. O'Rourke, Jr., 89, of West Warwick died peacefully at his daughter's home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, January 12, 2017. He was the husband of the late Rita E. (Cummings) O'Rourke and the companion of Dorothy McEvoy of West Warwick.

Born in Cranston, Rhode Island, he was a son of the late Raymond J. O'Rourke, Sr. & Marion (Kiernan) O'Rourke.  

Mr. O'Rourke was the vice president of sales with Akers Motor Lines for many years until his retirement. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a proud graduate of LaSalle Academy where he remained active with the alumni association & Providence College on the GI bill after returning home from the War.  He was a lover of all things Celtic and an avid historian. He was lucky enough to travel extensively with Dorothy in Europe and Iceland.

In addition to his companion Dorothy, he leaves his loving children: Sheryl O'Rourke of North Kingstown, Lynn F. Gould and her husband Edward of Bangor, ME, and Daniel R. O'Rourke and his wife Diane Ferreira of Seekonk, MA. Cherished grandfather of Kathryn M. Foran and her husband Ian of Bangor, Maine, Andrew R. Gould and his fiancée Courtney Coffey of New Hampshire,  and Kelly A. Gould of Bangor, Maine. He was the grandfather of the late Matthew W. Gould. He was the brother of the late Marion Antonelli, Louise Sullivan, Kathleen Waugh, and the father-in-law of the late James D. Neillands.  

His Funeral and Burial in the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery will be private.  Calling hours are respectfully omitted.  Gifts in his memory to a charity of your choice will be appreciated.  

Arrangements have been entrusted to THE CRANSTON-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME of WICKFORD.
