Michael M. Gale, 82, of North Kingstown, died at home surrounded by family on Tuesday, December 27, 2016. He was the husband of Lee (Lutz) Gale. Born in Detroit, MI, he was the son of the late Samuel B. Gale & Sara B. (Trilinsky) Gale.

Michael was a veteran of the U.S. Army. After his service, he joined his father and then eventually was the owner and operator of Gale Associates, a leading manufacturers' representative in the fashion jewelry industry. Always wanting to contribute wherever he could, Michael was an active member of IFJAG (International Fashion Jewelry Accessories Group),. After selling his company and "˜retiring' the first time, he then successfully ran the IFJAG trade shows for a number years until he retired once again.

Although, Michael never really retired from anything; only finding new interests and passions to pursue. He was an avid sailor, skier and student of everything. With a true love for learning, he became a sailing instructor after the age of 60, adding to his many years of racing (and winning!). In addition, come Winter he was on the mountain almost every weekend into his mid-70's, until a hip fracture finally got him sidelined.

Besides his wife, whom he loved dearly, he leaves his children: Brian Gale, MD and his wife Lori of Manhattan, NY, Suzanne Rubini and her husband David of Atlanta, GA, Mark Crow & his wife Meg Kopald of Shelburne, VT, Laura Ann Beckwith and her husband George of Littleton, CO, & Elliott Lee Crow, MD and her husband Merritt Helvenston of Albuquerque, NM. He was the grandfather of ten grandchildren and the brother of Rhoda Keegan of San Diego, CA. He loved us all so well.

Lastly, he leaves a wide circle of friends whom he loved, appreciated and cherished so dearly. And, that genuine generosity, warmth and insight is what we will all remember. We were all touched by Mike. May he always have fresh powder with moguls, forever good breezes in his sails, a black Russian cocktail at the ready, and never miss the PBS News Hour.

Relatives & friends are invited to attend a celebration of Michael's life on Friday, December 30, 2016 from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm at the Wickford Yacht Club, 165 Pleasant Street, Wickford. A private family funeral service was held in The Cranston-Murphy Funeral Home of Wickford. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory to PBS will be appreciated.
