Veronica J. Butcher, 89, known as "June" passed away on December 22nd at South County Hospital after a brief illness. Born on June 1, 1927 in Webster, MA she was the wife of the late Walter E. Butcher and daughter of the late Leo and Helen (Smykowski) Lonergan.
June proudly served in the U. S. Navy before her marriage and later worked as a telephone operator at Davisville.
She is survived by her children Michael (Leanne) and daughter Paula Nelson (Eric) all of North Kingstown as well as three grandchildren: Jesse Fogg, Kathryn Butts and Alexandria Nelson and 8 great grandchildren. She was the sister of Mary Lonergan of Dudley, MA, Ann Stochaj of Dudley, MA, Paul Lonergan of Webster, MA, Gary Lonergan of Alexandria, VA, and the late James Lonergan, The Rev. Richard Lonergan, Joyce Brezniak, & Lee Ellen Olmstead.
Her Funeral and Burial in the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery will be private. Calling hours are respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory to your local food pantry will be appreciated. Arrangements have been entrusted to THE CRANSTON-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME of WICKFORD.
