Eleanor G. (Milner) Morris died Friday, December 2, 2016 at the Philip Hulitar Center in Providence.  She was the beloved wife of the late George N. Morris for thirty-six years and the late Ralph Armstrong for eighteen years.  She was born in Milford, CT, a daughter of the late Waity J. (Budlong) Milner and Augustus W. Milner.  

She moved to North Kingstown in 1950, having grown up in the Norwood section of Warwick.  Eleanor most recently resided at the Scandinavian Home, in Cranston, from whom she received loving care.

A 1934 graduate of Warwick High School, she graduated from the University of Rhode Island in 1938 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics.  After college, she was first employed at Narragansett Electric and then was a secretary at General Electric for thirty years, retiring in 1979.

For many years, early in her first marriage, Eleanor served as a foster parent for the children of unwed mothers from the Sophia Little Home.

She was a member of the Norwood Baptist Church for nearly ninety years serving in numerous capacities including as VP Deaconate Board and as a member of the choir and Norbakirk, the former women's club.

She was active in East Greenwich Leisure and Learning, having served as President and most recently as President Emerita.  She had been a Worthy Advisor of the East Greenwich Order of the Rainbow for Girls. She was long active as a volunteer at the South County Nursing and Sub Acute Center in North Kingstown.

In addition to her church and volunteer activities, Eleanor enjoyed traveling the world with her husband George with whom she saw Hong Kong, South America, Europe, Great Britain, Scandinavia and many, many other ports of call.  

She was the sister of the late Esther J. Brown.  Eleanor is survived by her close cousins, many loving friends and her devoted church family.

Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at 10 AM in the Norwood Baptist Church, 48 Budlong Avenue, Warwick.  Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Monday, December 5, 2016 from 5 PM - 7 PM in THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Warwick. Burial will take place in Quidnessett Cemetery, North Kingstown.
