Steven A. Wilmes, 45, of Warwick, passed away peacefully after a 2 ½ year battle with colon cancer on November 5, 2016 at the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center in Providence. He was the beloved husband of Karen (Cimino) Wilmes.

Born in Danvers, MA, Steven was the loving son of Bob and Marge (Normandeau) Wilmes of Feeding Hills, MA. He was a graduate of Agawam High School and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Steven was employed as a chemical engineer at Thielsch Engineering in Cranston.

In addition to his wife and parents, Steven is survived by his cherished children: Holly Ann Wilmes and Allison Elizabeth Wilmes, both at home; his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Jack and Angela Cimino; aunt and uncle: Richard and Constance Normandeau; brother-in-law: John T. and Kara M. Cimino and nephews: Jonathan T. Cimino and Kristopher M. Cimino.

His funeral will be held on Thursday, November 10, 2016 at 8:45 AM from THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Ave., Warwick followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Clement Church, 111 Long Street, Warwick. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 3 PM - 7 PM. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.

In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory may be made to: "Friends of Jake," c/o 86 Potters Ave., Warwick, RI 02886 to establish an educational fund for his daughters.
