Joan P. Gove-Leavitt, 85, of North Kingstown, died peacefully on Monday, October 31, 2016.  She was the loving wife of Barry K. Leavitt.  Born in Attleboro, MA, she was the daughter of the late John J. Quinn & Florence (McCarthy) Quinn.

Mrs. Gove-Leavitt was the Director of Emergency Response for the Arkansas City Chapter of the American Red Cross for many years. She was a former Girl Scout Troop Leader, 4-H Leader and a communicant of St. Francis de Sales Church.

Besides her husband, she leaves her five loving children: Kate Gove of Alloway, NJ, Linda Soderberg and her husband Richard of Wakefield, Eric T. Gove and his wife Beth of Newkirk, OK, Sarah F. Rockwell of North Kingstown, Bessie M. Shaw and her husband Todd of Richmond, & the late Margaret Maine. Loving grandmother of 12 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, November 4, 2016 at 10:00 am in St. Francis de Sales Church, 381 School Street, North Kingstown. Burial in Woodlawn Cemetery will be private. Relatives & friends are invited and may call on Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 pm in THE CRANSTON-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME of WICKFORD, 140 West Main Street, Wickford Village, North Kingstown. 

In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory to The American Red Cross, P.O. Box 37839, Boone, IA 50037 or to Girl Scouts of the USA, P.O. Box 5046, New York, NY 10087 will be appreciated.
