John W. Combs, Jr., 78, of Coventry passed away on October 5, 2016 at home with his family present.  He was the husband of the late Jacqueline (Green) Combs.  Born in Bristol, Tennessee, he was a son of the late John W. Combs, Sr. and Winnie (Mahaffey) Combs. 
   
Mr. Combs was a National Sales Manager for several chemical corporations until his retirement in 2014.  He also served in The United States Marine Corps.  He received his Bachelor's Degree in Biochemistry from King College in Bristol, TN.  He was a faithful member of Greenwood Community Church, Presbyterian where he sang in the choir.  John played tennis for many years and enjoyed football, especially the Tennessee Volunteers.  
   
He was the loving father of Lisa Ellen Jacavone of Glocester and John Eric Combs of Fayetteville, NC.  Cherished grandfather of John Brandon Combs, Kimberly Bollinger, Jessica Williams and Joseph Jacavone and great grandfather of eight.  Caring brother of Gary Combs, Betty Cook, Sue Lewis, and the late Ann Withers.
   
Relatives and friends are invited to a Memorial Service on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at 11:00 am in Greenwood Community Church, Presbyterian, 805 Main Avenue, Warwick.  Calling hours respectfully omitted.
   
In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory to the American Cancer Society, 931 Jefferson Blvd., Suite 3004, Warwick, RI 02886 would be appreciated.
