John "Tim" McGrath, 86, died October 20, 2016 at the home of his sister, Theresa Littlefield. He was the husband of the late Susan E. (Bapties) McGrath. Born in Newport, he was a son of the late John "Pete" McGrath & Elizabeth "Bessie" (Drummond) McGrath.
Mr. McGrath proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a retired machinist from General Dynamics & Electric Boat. He was seasonally employed at Cedar Cemetery of Jamestown for many years.
John was active with the Jamestown Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and always helped put up flags at Memorial Square.
He leaves his loving children: Diona McGrath of Jamestown, Keith McGrath and his wife Lori of Pawcatuck, CT, Shawn McGrath of California, and Doriyan Bapties of Beaufort, SC. He was the loving grandfather of several grandchildren and many nieces & nephews. He also leaves his sister, Theresa Littlefield of Jamestown and Raymond P. McGrath and his wife Sandy of Auburn, GA.
His Funeral Service will be held Monday, October 24, 2016 at 11:00 am in THE CRANSTON-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME of WICKFORD, 140 West Main Street, Wickford Village, North Kingstown. Burial with Full Military Honors will follow in the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Relatives & friends are invited and may call from 10:00 to 11:00 am prior to the service.
