William M. Ainsworth, Lieut. W.F.D., Ret., 67, died Friday at South County Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Joyce Lee (Woodmancy) Ainsworth.
Born in Providence, William was a son of the late William E. Ainsworth and Frances (McCourt) Ainsworth-DeFrance and step-son of the late Alex DeFrance.
William retired as a Lieutenant from the Warwick Fire Department after years of service. He was a member of the Warwick Regular Firefighters Association, IAFF Local 2748 and the American Legion Post #2. William also served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War era.
William is also survived by a son: David Ainsworth of Warwick; a step-daughter: Michelle LeBeau of So. Kingstown; four brothers: Raymond S. Ainsworth of Moosup, CT, Paul B. Ainsworth (Det. W.P.D., Ret.) of So. Kingstown, Arthur A. DeFrance of Warwick and Peter A. DeFrance of Charlestown, RI; and three grandchildren.
His funeral will be held Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at 9 AM in THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Ave., Warwick. Visiting hours on Tuesday from 4 PM - 8 PM. Burial will be private.
