Patricia M. (Crowley) Izzi, 64, of Warwick passed away on Saturday, October 1, 2016, at Philip Hulitar Hospice Center. She was the wife of the late John D. Izzi. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late John J. and Margaret M. (O'Shea) Crowley.

She was a graduate of St. Xavier Academy (class of 1970), Rhode Island College (class of 1974), and received her Master of Education from Providence College in 2013. A lifelong educator, Patricia taught at Barrington Junior High School for three years until joining the Attleboro School Department in 1977. She taught mathematics at Attleboro High School for 39 years and had served as math department coordinator since 1996. She also worked as a tax specialist at H&R Block in Rhode Island for nearly thirty years.

Throughout her career, she was a member of numerous local and national education organizations and committees, including the National Education Association, Massachusetts Teachers Association, National Council of Supervisors of Mathematics, the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, and the Massachusetts Department of Education's MCAS assessment development committee and Race To The Top curriculum and assessment committee, among many others. She was selected as a Massachusetts Department of Education teacher fellow in 1997 and had served as treasurer of the Attleboro Education Association since 2001. She was also the coach of the high school math team and represented Massachusetts on a nationwide panel of educators to develop the PARCC assessments.

Patricia was the recipient of the 1992 Attleboro High School yearbook student dedication and was named an honorary National Honor Society inductee by students. She was named to the 1996 "Who's Who Among America's Teachers" and the 2013 "Who's Who in America." In 2007, she was named Teacher of the Year by the Greater Attleboro Chamber of Commerce.

She is survived by three children: John J. Izzi of Brooklyn, NY, Jessica M. Izzi, D.V.M., of Columbia, MD, and Matthew C. Izzi of East Boston, MA. She was the mother-in-law of Keiko Izzi of Brooklyn and grandmother of Henry I. Izzi. She was the sister of Mary F. Canole of Cranston, Kathleen V. Hemingway of Greenville, John J. Crowley, Jr. of Cranston, and the late Geraldine A. Crowley and Robert M. Crowley, Sr. She was the sister-in-law of Michael Canole of Cranston, Mary Crowley of Cranston, Kathleen F. Crowley of Coventry, Barbara J. Izzi of Smithfield, and the late Joseph Izzi, Jr., Richard N. Izzi, and Barbara E. Travers. She is also survived by twelve nieces and nephews and a large extended family.

Her funeral will be held on Thursday, October 6, 2016, at 9:00 a.m. from The Urquhart-Murphy Funeral Home, 800 Greenwich Ave., Route 5, Warwick (Exit 12A on I-95), with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 596 Jefferson Blvd., Warwick. Her burial will be in R.I. Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. Relatives and friends are invited. Calling hours will be held at Urquhart-Murphy Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 5, from 4 to 7 p.m.
