Walter F. Barnes, Jr., 77, of Warwick passed away on September 12, 2016 at Briarcliffe Manor.  He was the beloved husband of Barbara F. (Petrarca) Barnes.  Born in Cranston, he was the son of the late Walter F. Barnes, Sr. and Marion (Bettencourt) Barnes.
   
Walter was a Sales Supervisor for Market Merchandisers.  He also served in The National Guard and was activated during the Berlin Crisis.  He was a great cook, enjoyed carpentry and was a lifelong fan of the Boston Red Sox.  His greatest joy was spending time with his family.
   
He was the loving father of Stephen M. Barnes, Sr. and his wife Deborah of Warwick, Lori A. Lynch of North Kingstown and the late Walter F. Barnes, III.  Cherished grandfather of Stephen M. Barnes, Jr., Caitlin A. Lynch and Lauren A. Barnes.
   
His funeral services were private.  Gifts in his memory to The Alzheimer's Association, RI Chapter, 245 Waterman St., Suite 306, Providence, RI 02906 would be appreciated.
