Marietta V. (Whitlock) Kahla, 86, of Exeter, died peacefully at home on August 30, 2016.  She was the wife of the late Bluch W. Kahla.  Born in Beaumont, TX, she was a daughter of the late J. Frederick Whitlock and Ira E. (Hugghins) Whitlock.

Mrs. Kahla resided in Exeter for 37 years, previously residing in North Kingstown.  She was a well regarded breeder of Miniature Poodles at her kennel "Apropos Poodles", with numerous champions over the decades.  She was a delegate to the American Kennel Club as well as an active member and board member of several kennel clubs, including the South County Kennel Club, and the Poodle Club of America.  She was a member of the Peace Dale Congregational Church. 

She leaves her three sons, Kevin Kahla of Beaumont, TX, J. Kirk Kahla of Boise, ID, Keith Kahla of Brooklyn, NY; a daughter, Carolyn Pearce of El Cajon, CA; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.  

A Committal Service will be held Friday, September 9, 2016 at 9:00 am in The Houston National Cemetery.  Calling Hours are respectfully omitted. 

In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory to Friends of the Exeter Animals (supporting the Exeter Animal Shelter), P.O. Box 302, Exeter, RI 02822 will be appreciated.
