William M. Henry, 88, of Ocala, FL, formerly of Warwick and Highlands, NC passed away peacefully on August 15, 2016.  He was the husband of the late Mary T. (Marrier) Henry.  Born in Madison, SC, he was the son of the late Frank and Dellia (Loynes) Henry.  His parents died when he was two and he was raised by his grandparents Paul and Ida Henry.
    Mr. Henry was a Police Officer for the V.A. Regional Medical Center in Providence for 10 years until his retirement.  He was previously a Liquid Fuels Operator at the Quonset Naval Air Station.  He served in The United States Navy during WW II and served with the Rhode Island Air and Army National Guard for a total of 39 years of military service.  Mr. Henry received many awards and accolades but was most proud of being one of the first recipients of The Rhode Island Star.
    Active with the Knights of Columbus, he was a 4th Degree member of Fr. Wallace Assembly 1055 in Rhode Island and a founding member of Council 9649 in Ocala, FL.  He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Police.  An avid golfer, he achieved 3 holes-in-one.
    He was the loving father of Deborah A. Callahan and her husband Steven of Cranston and William J. Henry and his wife Susan of North Providence.  Cherished grandfather of Steven Callahan and Kerri Callahan.  He was predeceased by his siblings.
    His funeral will be held on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at 8:45 am from THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Warwick (Exit 12A on I-95) with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Thomas Church, 65 Fruit Hill Avenue, Providence.  Burial, with military honors, will follow in St. Ann Cemetery.  Relatives and friends are invited.  Calling Hours will be held on Tuesday from 5-7 pm.
    In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory to your local Hospice or local ASPCA would be appreciated.
