James W. Settle, Sr., 81, of North Kingstown, died peacefully at home on Friday, August 12, 2016.  He was the beloved husband of Claire A. (Provencher) Settle.  Born in Clerco, WV, he was the son of the late Dewey Settle & Hallie (Gippson) Settle. 

Mr. Settle worked as a carpenter in the construction industry for many years until his retirement.  He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. 

Besides his wife, he leaves his three loving children: James W. Settle, Jr. and his wife Dana of FL, Christopher S. Settle and his wife Cheryl of Newport, and Susan A. Settle Laveture and her husband Lionel of CT.  Cherished grandfather of Rebecca A. Souza, Ashley M. Settle, Ernest Smith, III, Cody Smith, James Stevens, John Hendricksen, Anthony Hendricksen, Braden Cofield, Grace Settle, & Tymon Settle. 

His Funeral and Burial will be private.  Calling Hours are respectfully omitted.  Gifts in his memory to Hope Hospice, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904 will be appreciated.  Arrangements have been entrusted to THE CRANSTON-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME of WICKFORD.
