Alton George Nichols, 82, of Warwick, RI passed away Saturday, August 6, 2016 at Kent Hospital.  Mr. Nichols was born in Swansea, MA on November 22, 1933.  He was the husband of Beverley Harrington of Warwick for 32 years

Alton was a son of the late George L. and Izelia R. (Mitchell) Nichols.  He was the brother of the late Olaf Nichols, Donald Nichols, Lionel Nichols and Joyce R. Nichols.  

Alton served in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 to 1957.  He was employed as a machinist by Cumberland Engineering for 32 years. He enjoyed golf, bowling, gardening, wood working and repairing small machinery.

Alton is also survived by a brother, Ashton L. Nichols of Somerset, MA; two sisters, Janice N. O'Brien of Somerset and Gloria R. Cooper and her husband Toney of Bastrop, LA; two step-daughters, Barbara DiPietro and her husband Henry of Coventry, RI and Lynne Harrington of Cranston, RI; his grandchildren, Johnathan, Connor, and Austin DiPietro and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral private. Services entrusted to The Urquhart-Murphy Funeral Home, Warwick.
