Allen J. Kennedy, 80, of North Kingstown, died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, July 31, 2016.  He was the beloved husband of Gloria A. (Guay) Kennedy for 64 years.  Born in Milford, Maine, he was the son of the late Carl J. Kennedy & Frieda R. (Foster) Kennedy.

Mr. Kennedy was the owner of the former Green Acres & Oakside Motels of North Kingstown and Kennedy Trucking for many years until his retirement.  He was a member of the South County Rod & Gun Club and an avid New England Sports fan.  He loved hunting, fishing, storytelling and was known as "gramps" to everyone at the Wickford town dock.

Besides his wife, he leaves his three daughters: Alana J. Klingensmith and her husband Eric of Exeter, Carla J. Kennedy and her companion Paul of Thompson, CT, & Wendy L. Kennedy and her companion Peter of Greenbush, ME.  He was the cherished grandfather of seven grandchildren,  Erin & Ian Klingensmith, Madalyn, Sam and Jacob Openshaw, Rob and Becca Chauvette and three great-grandchildren, Robert III, Teaghan and Landon Chauvette.  He was also the brother of Dorothea E. Moultis of Pembroke Pines, FL, Eleanor Bouchard of Ogunquit, ME, Joyce Lemieux of Palm Coast, FL, & the late Rita DiNardo.  He also leaves his "adopted son" Tripp Whilden of North Kingstown.

His Funeral Service will be held Saturday, August 6, 2016 at 11:00 am in THE CRANSTON-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME of WICKFORD, 140 West Main Street, Wickford Village, North Kingstown.  Burial will be private.  Relatives & friends are invited and may call on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm.  In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105 will be appreciated.
