Jeanne Frances White Ehrhardt of Wickford, RI passed away at the age of 103 on July 18, 2016. She was North Kingstown's oldest registered voter.

Born in New York City on October 17, 1912, she was the last survivor of the ten children of Dr. John F. White and Frances Jane Wilson.

She graduated from the College of Mount St. Vincent in 1932. She also studied at the École Française at Middlebury College and taught French for seven years at Blessed Sacrament Academy in NYC. In 1939 she married Laurence C. Ehrhardt and the couple eventually settled in Rye, NY to raise their family of four children.

She dedicated herself to her family. She performed extensive volunteer work in the Rye community with particular emphasis on supporting the Resurrection church and school community; assisting disadvantaged persons, particularly those with disabilities; and tutoring young people to achieve their GEDs for which she received quiet honor and recognition. Mrs. Ehrhardt was an avid reader who also enjoyed opera and classical music.

Her husband predeceased her in 1978. After 43 years in Rye she moved to New Canaan, CT and later, in 2003, to Wickford, to live with her eldest son, former State Representative Laurence W. Ehrhardt, and his wife Joan. She is also survived by her daughters Victoria Morse of New Haven, CT; Jeanne Franklin and her husband William of Arlington, VA; her son John W. Ehrhardt and his wife Carol of Princess Anne, MD; eleven grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She loved and took great interest in her grandchildren and great grandchildren. We all enjoyed her calm wit and goodness and will miss her greatly.

The family wishes to express its special appreciation to the staffs of Scalabrini Villa and South County Quality Care as well as Dr. Lauren Hedde of Direct Doctors for all their loving care during her final years.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Church of the Resurrection in Rye, NY at 10 AM on July 27th followed by interment with her husband and parents in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, NY. Calling hours are respectfully omitted.

Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at 49 Main Street, Wickford, RI 02852. She would not wish you to send flowers but to find your own joy and satisfaction in serving others. Arrangements are being handled by the Cranston- Murphy Funeral Home.
