L. Doris (Johnson) Pierce, 82, of Warwick passed away on July 13, 2016 after a brief illness with her family by her side. She was the wife of the late Ernest W. Pierce. Born in Providence on August 9, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Reuben and Mildred (Epstein) Johnson, and her stepmother Lydia Johnson.
Doris was a life-long Rhode Islander and had an amazing talent for gardening and decorating her home, which she took great pride in. She was an avid Red Sox and NE Patriots fan and never missed listening to their games. She also had a love for all animals and adopted many.
She is survived by two daughters; Robin Tempest and Jennifer Maillet (husband Philip), of Mount Vernon, WA, four grandchildren; Crystal, Tiffany, Olivia and Meagan, two great-grandchildren; Dominique and Jordan, and her dear friends Lynn Carr, Jimmy DeTroia and Chuck and Barbie Haines who were like family to her.
Relatives and friends are invited to Visitation on Tuesday, July 19th, from 10:00-11:00 am followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 am in THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Warwick (Exit 12A on I-95). Burial will follow at the R.I. Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
